Coach trips to Barnsley Market surge in 2025

Barnsley Market has welcomed a major rise in coach visits this year.

From January to November 2025, the market received 130 coaches carrying over 4,400 passengers. This is 44 more coaches than the same period in 2024 and an additional 1,962 passengers.

This uplift reflects the market’s strong mix of independent traders, great value and the warm Barnsley welcome.

Visitors have also been drawn in by Barnsley’s fantastic events programme, including Big Weekend, Bright Nights and the Christmas Market as well as the opportunity to explore the wide range of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions across the town centre.

Councillor Robin Franklin, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “Barnsley Market is a fantastic place to shop and spend time.

“For over 775 years, it has sat at the heart of our town centre, supporting local traders, bringing people together and boosting footfall.

“It’s brilliant to see coach parties visiting from all over the country to experience our friendly welcome and great value.”
