Cudworth Library to benefit from our Libraries Refurbishment Programme – where to find alternative services

Cudworth Library is the next library set to be transformed into a modern and flexible space as part of our Libraries Refurbishment Programme.

To allow the refurbishment to take place, the library will close on Wednesday 6 August, and is expected to reopen in late September.

As with our previous library refurbishments, we’ll be offering extra support to those who need it during the closure. If you can’t get to any other library in the area, you can join the Home Library Service for free and have books delivered to your doorstep. The nearest alternative libraries are Royston, Roundhouse, Grimethorpe and Priory.

As the library will be closing over the summer holidays, families will still to be able to continue using the onsite nursery during term time. Children and young people will also still be able to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge before the closure, and take out all the books they need to complete the challenge whilst the library is closed. They’ll be able to continue the challenge at another branch, or wait until the Cudworth branch reopens to complete it.

Councillor Wendy Cain, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said: “We’re really pleased to be continuing our investment in local libraries with Cudworth next in line for our Libraries Refurbishment Programme. Libraries are important community hubs where people can connect, learn, and access vital services – these works mean that our libraries remain welcoming, modern spaces that meet the needs of our communities now and in the future.”

The refurbishment at Cudworth Library is funded by a £130,000 grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund via the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
