Discover the magic of Barnsley's markets this Christmas

Our borough markets are great places to buy your gifts this Christmas, with late-night shopping and special events to enjoy.

What's on at our markets:

  • Penistone Market: Join us for late-night shopping until 7pm on Thursday, 21 December, and browse seasonal stalls alongside our regular traders. Plus, enjoy the festive atmosphere with lights and decorations in the town centre.
  • Hoyland Market: Don't miss the Up and Coming Market this Saturday, 16 December, where young traders will showcase their talents and products. You'll discover hand-made crochet creations and boutique babywear alongside our established traders. There will also be live music and free face painting for the kids (and the young at heart!).

Over the holiday period, Penistone Market is open on Thursday, 28 December, and Wombwell Market will be running on Friday, 29 December, and Saturday, 30 December.

Cllr Robin Franklin, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “Our markets are a vital part of Barnsley life – and a great place to find fresh locally-sourced produce and high-quality goods.

“I encourage everyone to head down to their local market to top up on those household essentials and see what unique Christmas gifts you can pick up for your loved ones, while supporting independent traders.”
