Easter gift drive for our looked after children brings eggcellent results

Barnsley’s looked after children and care leavers will receive a variety of Easter gifts this year, thanks to the generosity of council staff, councillors, and partners including NHS and police colleagues, as well as local businesses.

Chocolate eggs and Easter themed treats, as well as donations including stickers, books, soft toys and accessories, will be shared among more than 1,800 children and young people.

Cllr Ashley Peace, Cabinet Spokesperson for Children's Services, said: “For looked after children and care leavers, life can sometimes feel uncertain. A simple Easter gift can help create moments of joy, belonging, and happy memories that every young person deserves.

“Easter is a time of hope, kindness, and renewal. By giving a little, we’re showing each young person that they matter and that their community cares.”
