Love Where You Live funds improvements at Dearne community centre
Work has now been completed at Prospect Road Community Centre in Bolton upon Dearne, with a series of exterior updates delivered through Barnsley Council’s Love Where You Live programme.
The project has focused on practical and visible improvements to the outside of the building.
This included refreshed railings, upgraded boundary walls and new planting, helping to give the entrance a cleaner, brighter and more welcoming appearance.
Planting has been carefully introduced to add colour and interest, supporting a more cared-for look around the centre and its surrounding space.
Alongside the planting, the upgraded walls and railings have provided a clearer, more defined frontage, improving the overall appearance of the building and helping the community centre stand out along Prospect Road.
Cllr Wendy Cain, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said:
“It’s fantastic to see the finishing touches completed at Prospect Road Community Centre.
“The updated railings, refreshed walls and new planting have really lifted the outside of the building and helped create an entrance that reflects the importance of this space to the local area.”
These works have formed part of Barnsley Council’s £3.5 million Love Where You Live investment, which has supported community and park improvements across all 21 wards of the borough, shaped by local priorities and delivered in partnership with ward councillors and area teams.
Projects like this show how Love Where You Live is making a real difference by investing in everyday places that matter, taking care of community buildings and supporting the work that happens in them throughout the year.
Love Where You Live continues to support community enhancement projects across Barnsley, encouraging local involvement, pride in neighbourhoods and care for shared spaces.
