New Faces of Barnsley exhibition to celebrate the people who make Barnsley special

Barnsley Council is proud to welcome everyone to the launch of Faces of Barnsley, a powerful new portrait exhibition opening this February as part of the Together at the Town Hall event next week.

The exhibition at Experience Barnsley and around the Town Hall will shine a spotlight on the real people who make up our borough. Whatever our age or background, we’re all proud to call Barnsley home.

Featuring striking, intimate portraits captured by our creative partners Bolder Media, Faces of Barnsley brings together residents from all walks of life.

From volunteers, students and community leaders to families, faith groups and key workers, the exhibition reflects the warmth, character and unity that define our town.

The exhibition forms part of the council’s wider Love Where You Live initiative, which champions the people, places and stories that make Barnsley unique.

We want everyone to take pride in their communities, celebrate what makes their area special and be part of keeping Barnsley clean, welcoming and thriving.

Cabinet spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, Cllr Wendy Cain, said: “Faces of Barnsley is a celebration of our Barnsley people: their individuality, their contributions and their pride in our borough.
“It showcases a Barnsley which is diverse, welcoming, inclusive and full of character.

“Each portrait celebrates individuality while contributing to a collective story, one that reflects Barnsley’s strength, pride and sense of belonging.

“Faces of Barnsley is a wonderful example of how our Love Where You Live values are brought to life through our communities.”

The main exhibition at Barnsley Town Hall will feature large-format portraits installed throughout the Experience Barnsley gallery.

It will be part of our exciting Together at the Town Hall event, which runs from Monday 16 February to Saturday 21 February.

Why not visit the exhibition, share your favourite portraits, and join the conversation online using the hashtag #LoveWhereYouLiveBarnsley?
