Official opening marks new chapter for Cudworth Library
A new chapter has been opened for Cudworth’s Library after the official opening of new-look, modern community hub.
The comfortable, colourful facilities were officially opened today (Monday 26 January) by the Mayor of Barnsley, Cllr David Leech.
The library has been transformed as part of our Libraries Refurbishment Programme.
The refurbishment included creating a larger children’s library area with a welcoming nature theme and vibrant décor.
We've added extra shelving for more books and flexible spaces, with new meeting tables, soft seating and an acoustic office booth.
Cudworth Library reopened to book lovers in November. Since then, feedback from members of the community has been very positive.
Cllr Wendy Cain, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said: “I’m sure everyone is impressed by the transformation we’ve made to Cudworth Library.
"The library is a valued community hub for people living in Cudworth. It is now more modern and versatile, while keeping its welcoming and comfortable feel.
"We would like to thank residents for their patience while we carried out works to make the library offer even better than before.
"We are transforming libraries across the borough to provide modern, versatile spaces. as part of our Libraries Refurbishment Programme.
Whether you’re borrowing books, using the library for studying, or attending one of our exciting events or activities, we hope you’ll enjoy the newly refurbished space.”
