We're supporting Creativity and Wellbeing Week
Creativity and Wellbeing Week returns for its fourth year in Barnsley, highlighting the positive impact creativity and culture have on health and wellbeing.
From Monday 19 May to Sunday 24 May, we’ll be supporting the national campaign coordinated by London Arts in Health and the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance.
Across the week, we’ll be sharing activities that everyone can get involved in to learn new skills, boost their mood, and develop meaningful connections.
Residents are encouraged to visit our libraries across the week to see their book displays, and exhibitions as well as getting involved in their activities.
Barnsley Museums will be offering a range of activities and events across their heritage sites including:
- Cannon Hall Outdoor Trail: Monday 19 to Tuesday 26 May
- Cannon Hall Woodland Trail Sunday 24 May to Sunday 1 June.
- Experience Barnsley Butterfly Dementia Group: Thursday 22 May 1pm to 3pm.
- Experience Barnsley Age Uk Friendly Group , Thursday 22 May, 10am – 12pm.
- Experience Barnsley Stories of Childhood exhibition running until Saturday 17 Jan 2026.
- Wentworth Castle Gardens will be offering orienteering courses, Trail sheets starting at £1.
- Cooper Gallery Leeds Fine Art exhibition: open until Saturday 5 July.
- Wentworth Castle Gardens photography Walk, Wednesday 21 May 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Creative Recovery will be holding a series of events across the week. You can also visit your local library, market and principal town to get creative this week.

“Creativity and Wellbeing Week offers the perfect opportunity to get involved in a range of arts and cultural events across our borough, lift spirits and improve your health and wellbeing.
“Last year's events were a huge success, and we're excited to build upon that this year.”
