Our childcare courses are for anyone looking to work with children. They cover the essential skills and knowledge you will need to be successful in getting a job in the sector.

Introduction to working with childrenÂ
This course is right for you if:
- you're friendly and warm and interested to find out about the opportunities available to work with children or young people either in schools or childcare settings
- you've never worked in the sector before and want to take time to understand what it might involve
- you have worries or concerns about returning to learning, are worried about how it will feel, or are anxious about anything at all
- you want to understand how the skills and knowledge you already have could be applied to being employed to work with children or young people
Level 2 - Early Years
This course is right for you if:
- you're caring and passionate about making a difference to young children by working in the early years sector
- you're ready and able to commit to a work placement at a suitable, local early years setting so that you gain actual experience in the sector
- you want to further develop or refresh your existing knowledge and understanding of child development and current policy and practice in early years
- you can demonstrate the study skills required to complete a vocational qualification at level 2
- you have at least a level 1 qualification in English and maths
Level 2 - Supporting teaching and learning in schools (Teaching Assistants)
This course is right for you if:
- you're caring and passionate about making a difference to children and young people by working in the schools’ sector
- you're ready and able to commit to a work placement at a suitable, local school so that you gain actual experience in the sector
- you want to further develop or refresh your existing knowledge and understanding of current policy and practice in schools
- you can demonstrate the study skills required to complete a vocational qualification at level 2
- you have at least a level 1 qualification in English and maths
Your learner journey
Throughout your journey, we'll make sure you can see how the skills you're developing and can be used in your life or at work. When the time is right you'll have the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification at a level that is right for you. There'll also be an opportunity to gain additional qualifications that recognise the wider skills you've developed such as teamwork, having a positive attitude, resilience, motivation and commitment - all the essential skills that employers look for when recruiting staff.
