Lane gating

Lane gating, also known as alley gating, is a simple crime prevention measure. It involves putting up lockable gates at the ends of alley ways and passages. These are looked after by home owners who live around them.

The benefits of lane gating schemes include:

  • extra security that helps stop domestic burglary¬†
  • restricted access that will stop anti social behaviour
  • giving safe play areas for children to play
  • improves the area spirit and a sense of shared ownership
