Safer neighbourhood teams

We have six safer neighbourhood teams (SNTs) in Barnsley who respond to neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour. They adopt a problem-solving approach to target issues in the community.

The teams are made up of police officers, police community support officers (PCSOs), special constables, council officers, volunteers and partners. They're managed by a police inspector, sergeant and a community safety team leader.

What safer neighbourhood teams do

Safer neighbourhood teams can do the following:

  • Provide access to local policing services through a named point of contact.
  • Find out what issues matter to residents in their neighbourhood.
  • Work with partners and local people to agree on what action should be taken to deal with those problems.
  • Feedback to residents on what's being done in response to local issues.

How to contact your local safer neighbourhood team

You can contact your local SNT to report low level crime by calling 101.
