Jobs

Welcome

Are you looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative 0-19 Public Health Nursing service delivered within an award-winning council focused on placing local people at the heart of everything we do?

To achieve our ambition of becoming a national beacon for Public Health Nursing services we have been undertaking an exciting transformation programme which aims to promote and strengthen innovation within the service, ensure a focus on prevention and early intervention and focus on improving outcomes for children, young people and families.

Our service development is underpinned by our belief that well-supported staff results in a strong, resilient, high quality and responsive workforce able to provide appropriate interventions for all children, young people and families. To achieve this, we have developed a robust supervision model, training and development plan and are in the process of developing a wide range of tools and resources to support service delivery.

Outstanding support

We're extremely proud to have been rated as outstanding in our Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in October 2021.

The Inspection found that our staff are consistent in supporting people to live healthier lives and put children, young people and families at the centre of their care and treat them with compassion and kindness. People who use the service are at the centre of safeguarding and staff have a proactive approach to anticipating and managing risk.

Additionally, we were shortlisted for the Large Team of the Year Award at this years Local Government Chronicle Award.

What our staff say

"I am proud to work as part of the 0-19 service as I am able to contribute to the excellent support and services offered to families within the Barnsley borough. Being part of the 0-19 service gives me the opportunity to work alongside a wider staff team that work together to promote the visions and values for BMBC."
Emma

"It is refreshing, motivating and rewarding working for BMBC. All health visiting mandated contacts are face to face and the service management promote active involvement from all levels in service development. The IT services are exceptional which makes the job easier in times of stress, the atmosphere is relaxed, learning opportunities plentiful and progression encouraged. I am proud to work for a successful service who has the community at the heart of what we do."
Natalie

"Having recently joined Barnsley 0-19 PHNS in September, I can highly recommend, both BMBC and the 0-19 service, as an employer. I was immediately made to feel part of the team, given lots of training, support and opportunities to shadow staff in similar roles which increased the level of confidence I had to complete the role. BMBC is very supportive of it’s employees and I could not be happier with the team and being part of the service that the 0-19 PHNS provide."
Jessica

What children and families say

"I cannot thank my Health Visitor for everything she has done for me and my family. We were so close to not having our child because of our past but with the support of this amazing woman I still have my boy and he's happy and healthy. You don't know how amazing you are, thank you."

"My HV is absolutely amazing, she has gone above and beyond form for my two children since being assigned to us."

"Public Health Nurse has gone above and beyond for us. She accompanied us to a dental appointment to support, arranged at home immunisations because we couldn't get to the appointments. She chased up all kinds of appointment referrals. She's been truly wonderful."

"In a world where we take so much for granted, I just wanted to say the biggest THANK YOU for all your support. Our family is so happy to have you, you make such a difference."
