Carbon Literacy training

The Positive Climate Partnership’s climate education task and finish group includes representatives from:

  • Enzygo
  • Barnsley College
  • ITS
  • Barnsley Council
  • Enterprising Barnsley
  • South Yorkshire Climate Alliance.

It's been working to create an accredited Barnsley-specific carbon literacy course. This is tailored to support Barnsley businesses to take the first step on their net zero journey. Carbon Literacy training covers the causes and impacts of climate change, carbon footprints, how you can do your bit and why it’s relevant to you.

The training stems from a project the college is rolling out. It will train all of its staff in carbon literacy over the next 12-18 months. The course is designed to give businesses the knowledge they need to make impactful changes to the way they operate. This will support the borough’s ambitions of becoming net zero carbon by 2045.

It includes case studies of organisations that have already made progress on their net zero journey. You'll also be given information on how your business can receive support to develop your own net zero strategy.

The course will provide a chance for Barnsley businesses to lay the foundations for change. You'll join a community of over 74,452 people from over 5,404 organisations who've pledged to take action. Find out more on the Carbon Literacy website.
