Residents' parking permits

We currently have four residents' parking zones in and around Barnsley, and if you live within one of them you can buy a parking permit to allow you to park anywhere within the zone. Having a permit doesn't guarantee a parking space directly outside your home.

You can also buy vouchers to allow visitors to your home or business to park in a designated space. They must not be used for people to park while they go to work or go shopping.

Businesses can buy permits to allow them to park near their premises. We'll need proof that your vehicles are insured for business use before we grant you a permit.

Please note, due to financial pressures we're currently unable to consider developing any new residents' parking schemes in Barnsley.

How to use permits or vouchers

Permits and vouchers should only be used in the zone that’s printed on them. If you use them in a different zone or don’t correctly display them in your vehicle you may receive a fine (Penalty Charge Notice/PCN).

We monitor the use of these vouchers and will investigate any wrongful use.

Permit charges and payments

Parking permits are priced differently for residents and businesses and are set at a level to only cover the cost of running the scheme.
