School or college travel support for over 16s

We don't provide home to school or college travel support for post-16 students, unless they have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) or a mobility need.

However, if you're over 16 you may be able to apply for a Travel South Yorkshire travel pass to provide discounted travel across the region.

Barnsley MiCard

The Barnsley MiCard travel pass gives young people under 18 who live in the borough free bus travel in South Yorkshire, as long as the journey starts or finishes in the Barnsley local authority area.

Zoom 16-18 Travel Pass

The Zoom 16-18 Travel Pass gives discounted travel across South Yorkshire all year round for 16 to 18 year olds.

18-22 Discount Card

The 18-22 Discount Card enables you to buy some adult travel tickets at a discounted rate if you're aged 18 to 22.

Disabled person's travel pass

The disabled person's travel pass provides free travel for anyone who's eligible due to their disability.

Other travel support for students

Schools, colleges and training providers have support funds to help students who are studying a full-time course and are struggling with the cost of their studies. For more details about this, talk to your student support service or tutor.

You may also be eligible to apply to the 16-19 Bursary Fund to help with education costs during the school year.
