There are several providers in Barnsley who offer a wide range of courses for adult learners.

Adult Skills and Community Learning

Adult Skills and Community Learning offer courses for people aged 19 and over who want to improve their wellbeing, employability and skills, or gain a qualification.

They offers options at a range of levels and can help you to set goals based on what you want to achieve. You can ease back into learning with a taster class, then go right through to gain a qualification.

Barnsley College

Barnsley College offer over 100 adult and part time courses. These range from English, maths and IT, to art, photography and sports.

They also offer a range of higher education courses including:

  • degrees
  • HNC/Ds
  • higher level apprenticeships

Northern College

Northern College is the only residential college for adults aged 19 or over in the north. It's set in acres of National Trust gardens.

Northern College offer courses that can:

  • help you get back into education
  • find a job and gain employment
  • make a career change

Courses include: business, IT, health sciences, social studies and more.

Workers' Educational Association (WEA)

The WEA offer courses at local venues and online across a wide range of topics. These include:

  • Skills for work (admin, digital skills, English, maths, plus more)
  • Skills for life (budgeting, health and wellbeing, parenting, plus more)
  • Arts and crafts (art, sewing, plus more)
  • Music, languages, history, and more
