Across Barnsley town centre, visitors can enjoy a packed programme of spectacular outdoor performances, featuring some of the UK’s most exciting artists. From breathtaking aerial dance and street theatre to playful, interactive installations and uplifting live music, there will be plenty to see and experience throughout the day.
At The Glass Works Square, audiences can watch Up in the Sky by Autin Dance Theatre, an awe-inspiring aerial dance and physical theatre performance, with artists soaring high above the crowd. The show begins with a special Mawimba dance featuring pupils from Joseph Locke Primary School in Barnsley, celebrating creativity and community.
Families can enjoy Go Grandad, Go! by Company DHW, a lively hip‑hop dance show, while younger visitors are invited to take part in The Allotment by Let’s Grow, a playful, interactive installation themed around gardening.
Live music includes performances from Frumptarn Guggenband and Barnsley Singers, while Library @ the Lightbox hosts It Only Takes One Seed, offering creative, nature‑inspired activities for families.
At The Seam, The Great Garden Carnival brings colourful characters beneath the Yorkshire Roses, with giant bees, snails, flower dancers and opportunities for visitors to join in.
Matt O’Neill, Executive Director for Place, said: “The Barnsley Garden Party is a brilliant example of how culture, creativity and regeneration come together in our town centre.
“The Seam and the Yorkshire Roses have created a beautiful new space for people to gather, relax and enjoy high-quality free events.
“Days like this help bring the town centre to life, support local businesses and encourage families to rediscover everything Barnsley has to offer.’
