Barnsley town centre set for a summer of family fun
Families looking for ways to keep the children entertained this summer can discover a packed programme of activities, attractions and events across Barnsley town centre throughout August.
The summer fun begins at The Alhambra, where children can enjoy 14 days of free family activities from 3 to 16 August. Young visitors can get creative making colourful summer and sea creature collages using eco-friendly recycled materials, with no booking required. From bright beach scenes to underwater masterpieces, the activities are designed to spark imaginations and provide plenty of hands-on holiday fun.
Over at The Glass Works, Summer on the Square returns from 7 to 30 August, transforming the town centre into a hub of family entertainment.
Visitors can enjoy classic attractions including a traditional Helter Skelter, Bungee Trampoline and a fun filled 9 hole Crazy Golf course. Adding to the summer experience, Milk from the Hills will be back with its popular pop-up shake bar, serving fresh milkshakes and weekly special flavours throughout Summer on the Square.
Families can also enjoy a packed line-up of events throughout August, from markets showcasing local talent to a free festival full of entertainment and activities.
On Friday 8 August, visitors can support the next generation of entrepreneurs at the Young Traders Market on The Glass Works Square. Talented young traders will showcase their products, ideas and businesses, offering shoppers the chance to discover something new while backing up-and-coming local talent.
The Artisan Market returns on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 August, bringing together independent traders, street food, handmade gifts and sweet treats. With a lively atmosphere across the weekend, it will be a great opportunity for visitors to shop local, enjoy delicious food and spend time with friends and family in the heart of the town centre.
Later in the month, Barnsley's Great Family Festival takes place on Saturday 22 August, offering a brilliant day of free activities, entertainment and family fun for children and young people of all ages.
