Cabinet to consider updated Risk Management Policy and Framework

Cabinet will be asked to consider an updated Risk Management Policy and Framework on Wednesday 7 October.

The updated documents set out how we identify, assess and manage risks, helping protect services, safeguard public money and support effective decision-making.

The framework is reviewed every two years to make sure it remains effective, reflects best practice and responds to the challenges and opportunities facing local government.

Managing risk is a key part of how the council operates. It helps us respond to changing circumstances, make informed decisions and continue delivering reliable services for our communities.

Councillor Martin Bancroft, Cabinet Spokesperson for Core Services, said: "Residents expect us to spend public money wisely and keep services running well. Managing risk is an important part of that.

"Spotting potential problems early gives us more time to act. It helps reduce disruption, protect services and make better decisions.

"This updated Policy and Framework builds on the strong arrangements already in place and helps make sure risks are managed consistently across the council."

The updated framework also encourages innovation and continuous improvement, helping make sure we remain resilient and prepared for future challenges.
