Free family fun, live entertainment and fantastic shopping at Barnsley’s Big Summer Markets

Our Big Summer Markets across Barnsley offer something for everyone.

From live music and free family activities to tasty treats, brilliant eats, handmade gifts and second-hand bargains, there’s so much to look forward to.

The full list of dates and venues is as follows:

• Saturday 25 July – Penistone Market, with live music from Penistone Ladies’ Choir at 10am and 10.45am

• Saturday 1 August - Wombwell Market (in conjunction with Wombwell Business Committee)

• Saturday 8 August – Horse and Groom Square, Goldthorpe

• Saturday 15 August – Hoyland Market (alongside our regular Saturday market).

Take part in our “stall bingo” game as you explore the traders on offer, and enter our competition for a chance to win a Barnsley Gift Card.

You can also pick up free gifts and keep the kids busy with colouring fun and a hula hoop competition, plus face painting at the Penistone and Hoyland events.

There’s a great variety of traders lined up for our Big Summer Markets, with everything from hot sauces, homemade cakes, original artwork and upcycled homewares to secondhand items, stylish stationery and pampering products.

“Special events like this add to the busy calendar of traditional and themed monthly markets, which offer friendly service, variety and value.”
