Penistone East ward by-election results announced

Following the resignation of a former council member, a council by-election was held in the Penistone East ward on Thursday 20 August.

The electorate was 8,674, there were 7 rejected ballot papers and the voter turnout was 38.58% (3,346 votes cast).

John Roberts, of the Labour Party, has been duly elected to serve the Penistone East ward.

Sarah Norman, Chief Executive of Barnsley Council and Returning Officer for Barnsley, said: “I would like to thank residents from the Penistone East ward for voting in this by-election and for making your vote count.”
