Sunday makers and preloved market to launch at Market Kitchen
A brand-new shopping experience is set to launch at Market Kitchen, bringing together local creativity, unique finds and great food all under one roof.
The first-ever Market Kitchen Market will take place on Sunday 31 May. From 11am to 4pm, visitors can browse a curated mix of local makers alongside carefully selected second-hand items, offering something a little different from the traditional shopping experience.
The new market, planned to take place on the last Sunday of every month, is designed to showcase independent traders and give shoppers the chance to discover one-of-a-kind pieces, handmade goods and hidden gems, all while supporting local businesses and sustainable shopping.
Visitors are encouraged to make a day of it, combining a relaxed browse around the market before heading upstairs to discover everything Market Kitchen has to offer, such as global street food, sweet treats and drinks.
Matt O’Neill, Executive Director for Place at Barnsley Council, said: “Market Kitchen has quickly become a popular destination for great food and socialising, and this new market is a fantastic way to build on that success and expand on our brilliant existing market traders.
“By bringing together local makers and high-quality preloved items, we’re creating something that feels fresh, different and rooted in the community.
“This new offer will give visitors even more reason to spend time in Barnsley and compliments the existing independent traders which are open in our town centre on a Sunday such as Made & Found Yorkshire and Marshmallow Blends.”
Stall spaces are available from just £10, offering an affordable opportunity for traders, makers and sellers to take part in this exciting new event located within the May Day Green entrance of Barnsley Market.
Anyone interested in trading at the first Market Kitchen Market is invited to apply by Wednesday 27 May by emailing MarketServices@barnsley.gov.uk.
