Urban Burgers to Relocate to Prime Location at The Glass Works
Popular South Yorkshire burger chain Urban Burgers is set to move to a new, prominent unit within The Glass Works Square. Currently located on Cheapside, the relocation will place Urban Burgers alongside popular venues including The Salt House, Nando’s, and the newly announced Irish bar, Katie O’Brien’s, bringing its unique flavour to the heart of Barnsley’s bustling food and beverage scene.
Part of The Glass Works since 2022, Urban Burgers in Barnsley has been a huge success, serving 100% fresh beef, hand-cut fresh fries and thick hand-spun shakes.
Mehmet Kent, Co-founder and Director of Urban Burgers said, “We’re thrilled we can continue to be part of such a lively community in The Glass Works. The new location brings Urban Burgers to a prominent location on the Square, which is right in the heart of the evening economy in the town centre.
We look forward to welcoming both loyal and new customers to experience our menu in this exciting new setting.”
Councillor Andy Cudworth, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Assets for Barnsley Council said, “We’re delighted to see Urban Burgers relocating within The Glass Works. This move continues to help create a vibrant town centre, offering residents and visitors an exciting variety of food and drink options in one place.
The Glass Works continues to go from strength to strength, attracting and maintaining fantastic businesses that help make Barnsley a destination of choice.”
This transition creates an opportunity for a retailer to occupy Urban Burgers’ current site on Cheapside, further strengthening the town’s retail landscape and supporting Barnsley’s ongoing regeneration.
With continued investment planned for the town centre, Barnsley is continuing to establish itself as a leading destination for both businesses and visitors. Alongside the creation of the trailblazing health and wellbeing hub in the Alhambra Centre and the recent opening of The Seam Digital Campus, Barnsley town centre continues to offer a vibrant mix of retail, leisure, hospitality and health organisations, strengthening its appeal as destinations to live, work and visit.
