Changes due to coronavirus (COVID-19)
Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) there are currently restrictions in place for funerals, including for the number of people allowed to attend burial and cremation services.
The Garden of Remembrance
The Garden of Remembrance at the crematorium has been developed to be a collective memorial to all who have been cremated here, or whose ashes have been returned for strewing or interring from other areas outside of Barnsley.
Over the years it's matured into beautiful gardens, with a variety of rose beds, shrubs and trees. It offers peace and comfort, providing a haven for quiet contemplation.
Throughout the garden areas of lawn have been set aside for the scattering and interring of ashes.
We keep records of where ashes have been scattered or interred so that members of the same family can have their remains located alongside a loved ones.
Our Gardens of Remembrance are open every day for you to visit. You can choose where to locate a memorial within the areas available and see where we can scatter or inter cremated remains.
The Flower Room and Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance is on display every day in the Flower Room, close to the chapel, but this is currently closed due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
You can find out more about how to purchase an entry into the Book of Remembrance, as well as other lasting memorials at the crematorium here.
We provide rows of flower vases for visitors to use for free. To make space for future visitors we remove flowers after seven days.
