Barnsley outdoor market trades five days a week, from 8:30am to 4.30pm. General stall days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with Tuesday being a second-hand stall day.

Outdoor stalls are under pop-up gazebos. Tables can be provided on-site for a charge, or you can bring your own tables if you don't want to rent them from us.

Outdoor market rents

Table hire is £2.50 per day.

Products we don't allow for sale

You can't sell any of the following items at our markets:

• guns - either active or decommissioned
• knives – other than those used in catering activities
• swords – including decorative
• knuckle dusters and associated items
• crossbows
• sexually explicit or pornographic material, including DVDs and magazines
• fireworks
• legal highs - psychoactive substances including products that contain nitrite compounds
• bongs, glass and drug pipes and grinders
• tobacco and non-tobacco blunts
• clay and associated pipes
• cannabis incense products, including sticks and cones
• weed boards
• smoking accessories
• e-cigarettes (existing traders permitted only)
• cannabidiol (CBD) products

Goods needing a special licence or permission are at our discretion.

How to apply for an outdoor market stall

You can apply for an outdoor market stall at Barnsley Market by filling in the online form below. If you want to trade at the outdoor markets in Goldthorpe, Hoyland, Penistone or Wombwell, see our webpage about trading at our local markets instead.

In the form you'll need to upload:

• two forms of ID showing your name and address (bank statement or utility bill, dated within the last two months)
• a passport or driving licence
• a copy of your public liability insurance (minimum £5 million)
• proof of your National Insurance number
• one passport-sized photograph (if you don't have any photo ID)
