Building and landscape design

One of the factors affecting planning permission is the design of buildings or extensions. A well-designed building is likely to add more value to your home and be more attractive to your neighbours.

Design and Access Statements

A Design and Access Statement is a concise report needed for certain types of planning application and for listed buildings consent. They're used to explain how your proposed development is suitable for the site and setting.

You don't need a Design and Access Statement for all types of development. See GOV.UK for details of planning applications that need a Design and Access Statement and what needs to be included in these.

Pre-application advice

If you're a homeowner or developer you can use our pre-application planning advice service to help you determine which statements will be required before you apply for planning permission.
