Community and volunteering
About the partnership
The Stronger Communities Partnership is a multi-agency board that contributes towards our health and wellbeing vision for the people of Barnsley to:
- be healthy
- stay safe
- enjoy and achieve
- be active citizens
- earn a good living
Our role is to encourage our local partners, voluntary and community sectors to work together; to promote shared ownership of outcomes and to enable people to achieve their potential - to increase the resilience and wellbeing of the community as a whole.
Our partners
The Stronger Communities Partnership is made up of a range of organisations and voluntary groups including:
Our priorities and plan
Our ambition is for a community in which individuals and families are healthy, resilient, confident and have the skills to thrive and achieve their full potential.
Our main priorities for this year are to:
- put in place the right help, in the right place at the right time
- develop strong partnership working and strong leadership
- empower people and communities to build capacity and resilience so that they can do more for themselves
The Stronger Communities Partnership Board reviews its plans and takes responsibility for making sure that partners deliver against the shared priorities. It does this by reviewing its plan on an annual basis to make sure it meets local needs.
Read the 2019-20 Stronger Communities Partnership plan.
We'll measure our achievements through key performance indicators and case studies to review the impact of a joined up approach with our partners.
The All Age Early Help Strategy
The partnership plan All Age Early Help Strategy was produced working with our stakeholders to identify three priorities to achieve the best outcomes for individuals, families and communities within the borough. These are to:
- put in place the right help, in the right place, at the right time
- develop strong partnership working and strong leadership
- empower people and communities to build capacity and resilience so that they can do more for themselves
Devices for care homes
During the COVID-19 pandemic we recycled 100 devices to support care homes, providing them with refurbished laptops and tablets.
