Internal audit 2020/21 – response to issues raised
The internal audit found that the internal control objectives L, M and N were not met.
Although the relevant accounting and governance information for 2019/20 was available on the village noticeboard, this also needs to be on a publicly available website. Also notice of the period of public inspection rights must be minuted in the meeting where the annual accounting statements and annual governance statement are approved.
With reference to the internal audit report, the Council acknowledges that the transparency obligation was not met fully. The website the Council uses could not accept the scanned format, and the Clerk at the time was unable to be at the meeting where the notice of public inspection rights would normally be minuted. In addition, the Clerk role was subsequently taken over by a new employee.
Going forward the Parish Council will ensure that the required documents including the notice of public inspection rights, are available on a publicly available website. The dates for the exercise of public inspection rights have been minuted in the annual parish council meeting held on Monday May 24 2021.
